About Us
We are an enthusiastic team focusing on drug discovery from ocean microbiota. Microorganisms are ubiquitous in the ocean environment with an estimated 10 thousand to 1 million cells per milliliter, providing the grounds for immense genetic diversity. Using a combination of bioinformatics, microbial genetics, metabolomics, and chemical biology, we seek to convert the tremendous genetic potential of microbiota into chemical reality for the discovery of structurally novel and biologically active molecules. We also plan to delve into the chemical ecology of the ocean by studying the chemical "language" of host-microbe interactions.
